My research is concerned with polarity item licensing in Swedish, i.e. the distribution of such words and expressions such as någonsin 'ever' and ett rött öre 'a red cent'. Despite the fact that this topic is well discussed in the literature, little work has been carried out with regards to Swedish. My dissertation presents an alternative hypothesis that challenges previous theories.
