Project Details

Description

This five-year project aims to continue and dynamically develop the success of the Raoul Wallenberg Visiting Chair of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, co-hosted by the Faculty of Law at Lund University and RWI, and to attract outstanding and leading international scholars in the field of international law and human rights and humanitarian law in line with the ethos and legacy of Raoul Wallenberg.

The Visiting Chair – and the research environment, early career researchers and multitude of activities connected to it – seek in novel ways to explore, analyze and secure the future of human rights. To this end, the project also aims to promote a new generation of talented and innovative human rights scholars, advocates and policy-makers.

The future of human rights is addressed in three specific research areas:
1. The rise of authoritarianism and populism
2. The challenges of technological change, digitalization and AI
3. State of emergency and the erosion of the rule of law
