Project Details

Description

Does the neighborhood of upbringing influence health, education and income in adulthood? The question is answered based on sophisticated geographical analysis using unique geocoded longitudinal microdata at the address- and block-level for the city of Landskrona, 1904-1967, linked to Swedish national registers, 1968-2015. We measure the conditions of individuals growing up in the city and study outcomes in adulthood regardless of where in Sweden they reside. The effects of the neighborhood´s socio-economic status on health and socio-economic outcomes are analyzed with regard to both family background and the social and physical characteristics of the neighborhood. The project is unique in its kind by the combination of a long time perspective and detailed neighborhood measures.
