The point of departure in this study is the spy as a cultural icon in the Swedish media landscape of the 1950s and 1960s. Through the analysis of a range of sources, including news press, popular magazines, civil defense propaganda and fiction, different narratives of community are portrayed. In these narratives, cold warfare meets warm welfare.
