By archaeologichal surveys of castles, villages, roads, bloomery furnaces, tar production places and other objects there is clear wiew of the danish kolonisation from iron age up till 1200. The remains are vey well preserved in the forest in the region. By the long duration of the project, a lot of excavated items, a lot of processed archive material and a lot of natural science analysis we have now a good wiew of the medieval period in the northern part of Skåne. In the early part of the period the kings demand people not to colonise their domain. This according to teutonic law that explaines that all deserted land belonged to the king. In the 12th cent a regulated colonisation started. The new settled farmers payes their tax to the king in iron, tar, pot ash (Blekinge) and maybee salt (Halland. The area is organised by the building of castles. One castle building period is in the 12th cent and a second one in the 14th cent.
