The memory of a third world war. Nuclear bunkers and the Cold War cultural heritage in Europe

This project addresses issues concerning how we are to remember the 20th century’s most encompassing yet imaginary war – the Third World War. The concrete focus is on Cold War underground bunkers and the process in which they are today transformed from mere ‘sites’ to ‘sights’, leaving room for everything from recollections of existential fears to feelings of paradoxical nuclear nostalgia.
