The role of sugar intake in cardiovascular disease prevention

Project: Dissertation

Project Details

Description

During the last years the potential role of sugar intake in the development of cardio-metabolic diseases has received greater attention, but whether sugar consumption plays a causal role is still much debated, and recent reviews have ended up with widely discrepant conclusions. We will in this project examine the association of sugar intake in different forms with several outcomes and disease risk factors, including micronutrient dilution, intima media thickness, genetic factors associated with increased preference for sugar, and cardiovascular diseases.
