Description
What is The Story Lab Project?
Stories are central to many art forms where language is central, but also relates to both music and fine arts in different ways. In this project there is a specific focus on arts-based forms of knowledge transmission. Through this initiative we want to explore how in-depth exploration on art could afford methods both in the arts and other scientific fields.
The Story Lab Project is an emerging research cluster exploring and developing methods of storytelling to engage in society. The research project was initiated by Sima Nurali Wolgast and Jörgen Dahlqvist.
The project departs from the intersection between art, society and science with the ambition to develop methods of storytelling, find collaborations with civil society and find common denominators between different scientific fields.
In this cluster we want to invite academic research, societal stakeholders and old and new media creators to explore how arts could inform social engagement.
Purpose
The purpose of the project is to discuss methods in arts through different scientific disciplines, to use methods from humanities, arts and social science to understand processes such as meaning making, social identities and existential conditions
Aim
The aim is to amalgamate methods from above mentioned different fields, and through that understanding develop novel methods for storytelling. This initiative aims to bring as many different perspectives on methods from the arts in relation to storytelling as possible together. It will explore how an understanding of stories could afford knowledge on how to deal with societal challenges as well as provide methods to the arts and the different scientific fields.
