Mahler has during his lifetime been discussed as person and composer. His music has gone through a changing 20th century and is today more acute than ever. Theodor W. Adorno's reception of Mahler after World War II played a major role for how Mahler's music was interpreted in Germany and which aspects which were especially focussed on.
