In this project, I examine how portraits were spread and reproduced in different media in eighteenth-century Sweden. The study discusses the roles of engravers, publishers, and printers in the portrait market. This project aims to show how engraved portraits were produced, advertised, sold, spread, and used in Sweden and Europe in the eighteenth century, thereby stressing the portrait's exceptional position and function as a medium that creates identity and carries knowledge.
