Validating Multidimensional Behaviors Between Species Toward the Reduction of Mammalian Animal Experiments

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

Cells can't jump; human and animal behaviors are too complex to be studied in single cells, thus the need for a whole organism is apparent. To reduce the use of mammals in behavioral experiments in drug discovery and environmental toxicology, we suggest using zebrafish from larvae to adult stages. We will seek to validate zebrafish as a behavior model by correlating behaviors between zebrafish and rodents and indirectly to humans. By validating zebrafish larvae, we hope to seriously introduce zebrafish larvae as an initial behavior model and reduce the use of mammals in animal experiments
