"We are in the Congo Now"

Following a request by the UN in 1960, Sweden sent a battalion of volunteers to take part in the peacekeeping mission in the Congo. It and its successors would stay until 1964 and became involved in fierce combat in and around the provincial capital of Elisabethville, mainly in the autumn and winter 1961.
