Description
Generative AI has emerged as a site for contesting expertise in an emerging genre of man-machine dialogue. This project aims to map, examine, and understand how expertise related to synthetic information produced by generative AI is negotiated, defended, and challenged in three domains: health, politics and environment. Using quantitative and qualitative methods, the project systematically addresses the current challenges that generative AI poses to society’s collective ability to ensure trust and evidence-based decision- making, which requires a well-informed population.
