Why me? Cognitive representation of illness in relation to BIPQ

Adherence to treatment may depend on the representation of the illness as understood by the patient. Brief Illness
Perception Questionnaire (BIPQ) is a questionnaire with the aim to enable a deeper understanding in how the illness is perceived by the patient.
As a pilot project interviews with service users and significant others and service providers were performed using the BIPQ to compare identity to cause and care. The interviews took place at a healthcare
unit for service users with co-morbidity psychosis/substance abuse.

Följsamhet till behandling, att patienten följer instruktionerna för sin behandling, uppfattas som väsentlig för behandlingens utfall. Genom att undersöka patienten uppfattning om sin sjukdom genom frågeformuläret BIPQ så kan det stärka möjligheterna att utforma instruktioner och behandling så att följsamheten förbättras.
