Writing Worlds, Reading Landscapes: An Exploration of Settings in Fantasy

The fictive settings are central to fantasy literature -- some critics even go so far as to compare a fantasy world to the story's main characters. Despite this, there is basically no scholaship to be found about how fantasy settings are constructed and function in relation to the story, something I aim to remedy in my dissertation.
