Abstract

An online, multimedia edition of 'A Description of the Valley of Chamouni, in Savoy' (1819), by Samuel Glover. This edition brings to light a forgotten and important work of travel literature about Chamonix-Mont Blanc, and documents its close connections with the activities of Mary and Percy Shelley during to the so-called 'Frankenstein Summer' of 1816, and with high-profile exhibitions about Chamonix-Mont Blanc in London in 1819-20.
