Abstract

This paper deals with the problem of finding a model for industrially manufactured fin-and-tube heat exchangers to determine the heat transfer for the complete fin-and-tube heat exchanger. The model is based on the temperature efficiency of the gas. The thermal conductance of the contact area between the fins and tubes is taken into consideration in the model. The influence of the fact that for industrially manufactured fin-and-tube heat exchangers the fin thickness is smaller close to the tube than elsewhere has been investigated and considered in the model. Finally, the model is applied to tests of industrially manufactured fin-and-tube heat exchangers to find a correlation of the heat transfer coefficient for the gas-flow convection.
