Abstract
This text will explore the allegedly ‘sustainable’ urbanization of agricultural land in the SUD project Hyllie, an emerging ‘smart city’ district in southern Malmö (Sweden’s third largest city). With the aim to provoke discussions on some often-overlooked dilemmas with the expansionist and projective character of SUD, the concept of ‘queer failure’ is brought in as a disruptive and generative idea. The text builds on my ongoing PhD studies in architecture with fieldwork carried out in Hyllie, including on-site and digital observations, conversations, photography, and document studies.
