Abstract
The effects of the phase lag on the suspended load in the ripple regime were investigated for oscillatory flows and combined steady and unsteady flows. The Camenen et al. (2005) suspended load formula was modified in order to take into account both current-related and wave-related sediment transport. A particular effort was made to better predict the phase-lag effects in the ripple regime. The modification of the Camenen et al. (2005) formula significantly improves the overall agreement with data and yields a correct behavior with respect to the main governing parameters, such as the median grain size d50, the orbital wave velocity Uω, and the wave period Tω
