Abstract

"Homo deus: a short history of the future", Yuval Noah Harari's book discusses the sources of power of modern man, beginning especially after the Second World War. The starting approach is the Enlightenment-specific, glorifying progress and then follow optimistic conclusions for the future. The impression is of progressive euphoria, but it is true that sometimes the jubilation is suspended and the master of ceremonies expose the emperor's nakedness.

The end is even panicky, imagining the script of data theft and the rise of demigod dictators who could set up regimes of terror without the possibility of rebellion. Therefore, the author concludes, market forces need to be carefully controlled.
