Cornelius Rahmn’s Kalmuck grammar

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

In this article I give a translation into English of the Kalmuck grammar written in Swedish
by Cornelius Rahmn. This grammar was most probably written while Rahmn was a
missionary in the Kalmuck area in 1819-1823. The manuscript of the grammar is kept by
Uppsala University Library, and has not been published before. As an introduction, I give
a short account of Rahmn’s pioneering studies on Kalmuck linguistics and their significance.
