Abstract
Distribution of habitats and vegetation types]. In this third and last article in a series based on various analyses of data from the survey of the vascular flora of the province of Skåne, southern-most Sweden, completed 1987–2007, the geographic distribution of various habitats and vegetation types is mapped and discussed based on the number of characteristic species reported from each grid-square. By this approach, both the general distribution of different vegetation types and the relative species richness of the same vegetation type in different parts of the province may be revealed. It is concluded that the latter information need to be considered when nature conservation priorities are made. In addition, if repeated based on data from surveys from different time periods, not only the overall change in abundance of different vegetation types, but also any changes in their geographic distribution may be revealed.
