Abstract

A themed journal issue which contains six commissioned essays + an editorial about the phenomenon of sex in the cinema, television and on the internet since the historical breakthrough of sex research by Alfred C. Kinsey in the late 1940s. The essays span a wide array of topics including, to name a few, the developments within obscenity law in the US, sex in the work of European art cinema auteurs such as Ingmar Bergman and Michelangelo Antonioni, the reception of an actress making the crossover move from porn to 'regular' film. The issue also includes a standard section of book, festival and DVD reviews not connected to the main theme of the issue.
