Abstract

In December 2015, more than 190 nation-states adopted the Paris Agreement at the 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework
Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). This widely celebrated event has
spurred great enthusiasm among experts concerned with the global
response to climate change. Since then, considerable progress has been
achieved on the international level, especially at the most recent international climate change conference held in Marrakesh, Morocco, in November 2016. However, recent developments also indicate how difficult the
implementation process of the Paris Agreement will be. In reality, the
involvement of all governmental and societal levels is of utmost importance
to effectively address the climate change problem.
