Abstract

This book is a collection of essays and articles on warfare, from Roman antiquity to the early modern era. Most articles are focused on medieval warfare, such as the battles of Hastings, Durben and Nicopolis, the myth of chivalry, the career of Joan of Arc, the Varangian guard, the Scanian campaign of 1452, the crusades, the tactics of the Burgundian army in the fifteenth century and the nuns' rebellion in Poitiers in 589.
