Abstract
I dialog med Proust actualizes the importance of the french writer Marcel Proust in Denmark. The dissertation brings a new chapter to the history of danish literature and history of thought. For the first time the significance and influence of Prousts world famous novel, À la recherche du temps perdu (1913-27) on Danish culture; on critics, writers and artists is revealed - from critic Kai Friis Møller to the painter Jesper Christiansen. The reception research spans from 1914-2014, dealing with the recepton of the first danish translation of Proust, På sporet efter den tabte tid (1932-38). I dialog med Proust also shows in which ways the reception of Proust has changed the attitude towards him and the status of his enormous novel as a much more complicated and diverse work of art than we thought before - with an open future ahead of it. A time where new danish readers will appreciate Prousts perspectivism and ways of writing in new ways.
