Abstract
Effective electronic management of assessment and feedback is an essential feature of contemporary higher education, whether teaching is on-campus, online, or blended. Setting up an effective system for managing assessment and feedback requires attention to principles, practices and policies, as well as to the technical requirements. A project to improve digital management of assessment at a large UK university led to the identification of some key success factors. These include the need for nuanced multi-disciplinary working good relationships with software providers, the prioritisation of academic decision-making, and a focus on reducing academic administration.
