Abstract
Religion and religious ideologies interact with other power structures in society. Therefore religious factors should be considered in intersectional analyses, along with factors such as class, gender and ethnicity. The suggested tool of religious proximity is, as an example, applied to an analysis of women as religious leaders in the context of religious fundamentalism.
