Abstract
Beijing's interest in the African continent is strong. For some time, China has been investing considerable capital to increase its influence in many sub-Saharan nations, often rich in raw materials and resources considered essential for Chinese industrial growth. In this respect, a very interesting case concerns Tanzania, a significant African state facing the Indian Ocean that has recently established close relations with Beijing. The sectors on which Chinese investors have focused are agriculture and port infrastructure. With a massive financial commitment, China aims to increase its geo-economic presence in South East Africa. In addition to analysing the main Chinese projects in Tanzania, this article will delve into the reactions of the Dodoma government to the neo-colonialist attitudes pursued by Beijing.
