Memory and trauma: Two contemporary art projects

Abstract

This essay takes its point of departure in two of my artistic projects: the first was developed in a Palestinian context between 2008 and 2010, and the second in an Italian context between 2012 and 2015. Both projects investigated the languages of memory and trauma through the looking glass of my artistic practice. My work as a visual artist and filmmaker centres on ideas and notions of power structures, identities, memories, construction of history, and subjective history.
