Abstract
The purpose of the present paper is to outline emerging trends in nanomedicine, as well as to discuss some of the potential benefits and problems the medical applications of nanotechnologies may give rise to. In the paper some of the suggestions recently made by the European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies concerning how to deal with some of these problems are presented. I conclude by giving my personal view of what the most important and difficult issues raised by nanomedicne are.
