Abstract

Objectives: This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (intervention). The objectives are as follows:. To determine the effects of different regimens of systemic opioid analgesics in neonates (term or preterm) undergoing surgery, on mortality, pain and major neurodevelopmental disability. These different regimens may include: different doses of the same opioid; different routes of administration of the same opioid; continuous infusion versus bolus administration; or 'as needed' administration versus 'as scheduled' administration.
