Abstract
The poet and bishop Esaias Tegnér did not write any hymns, but he admired very much the hymns of his contemporary author colleagues, especially those of J. O. Wallin. In some of his poems, hymnsinging and organ music are motifs. As a bishop, he made efforts to spread the use of the hymnal of 1819.
