Abstract
This year the Swedish Society of Medicine
and Lund Society of Medicine have arranged a
Berzelius Symposium in Malmo¨/Lund on September
24–26, 2008. This is the 1st International
Symposium in Sweden on The Aging
Male.
The purpose is to bring together scientists
and clinicians in this relatively new discipline
to highlight, in a multidisciplinary setting, the
causes and consequences of male aging and its
social and medical repercussions. We hope
that the symposium will stimulate efforts to
improve health and quality of life in men.
Prominent scientists within this field will
present recent data in cardiovascular diseases,
muscle capacity, sexuality, the aging brain,
androgen therapy, the metabolic syndrome,
mood and cognitive disorders, as well as the
male froman ethnographic and social perspective.
The audience will be scientists and practitioners
with a multifaceted interest in health
in aging, and includes the fields of urology,
psychiatry, geriatrics, endocrinology, gynecology,
general practice, and other specialities.
The meeting will also be of interest to professionals
from the social sciences, as well as
providers of services and technologies for the
aging population.
