Abstract

INTRODUCTION The purpose of this chapter is twofold. First, it aims to provide managers and researchers with a number of concepts and perspectives which are relevant to understanding the evolution of environmental management as a corporate function. Second, in adopting and developing a critical position toward a number of current conventions or common assumptions, it aspires to add something of value to the emerging debate about ecologically sustainable organizations.
