Abstract

Sweden and Denmark-Norway experienced a degree of freedom of the press at the beginning aof the 1770s that was quite unusual compared with much of continental Europe. The liberty of the press quickly changed the system of communication and the artickle explores how a new culture of communication was established in Denmark and who appropriated the written word and how and why.
