Description Problem gaming is a field rapidly gaining in academic and popular interest. A large body of the mainstream international research on the topic is still dominated by medical, psychological and discourse studies of game addiction. However, recent research conducted in Denmark, Norway and Sweden, share a different critical perspective sprung from everyday-, user-oriented, humanities and media-sociological frameworks. Several of these perspectives are represented at the Symposium and enhanced by further insights from representatives from the fields of practice and policy. Thus, the main question addressed by the speakers was: “What is the problem in problem gaming?”
