Description

The DNA Sequencing Facility is a cross-faculty facility for DNA and cDNA (RNA-Seq) sequencing and is primarily intended for academic research groups based at Lund University.
Our facility staff have expertise in most aspects of DNA sequence analyses and can offer help and advice on experimental design, library constructions, analyses and bioinformatics and provides assistance to both beginners and experienced users.
The facility is organized into two major units. One unit for Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and a second unit for more traditional Sanger DNA sequencing.
Users during the years have been from both the inside of our faculty, and then mainly then from our Department of Biology as well as from the outside (such as MedFak (LU), Karolinska, Umeå Univ., Kalmar Univ., Oslo Univ.).

Equipment and resources

- Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) on an Illumina MiSeq
- Sanger DNA sequencing on a 8-capillary Applied Biosystems 3500 Genetic Analyzer
- Quality checking/assessment of DNA and RNA on Agilent 2100 BioAnalyzer
- DNA shearing on a Covaris M220
