Description

Our research group conducts research in the fields of paediatric nursing and care with a focus on children with long-term medical conditions and their families, e.g. children with cancer, cerebral palsy, diabetes, heart disease, HIV, obesity and colic. The research is conducted in close collaboration with healthcare services and led by Professor Inger Kristensson Hallström. The implementation of the research in practical health care has proven to be of great importance for children and their families' opportunities to live with their disease or health condition. Our research group has a multidisciplinary perspective and pediatric nurses, midwives, physiotherapists, doctors, psychiatric nurses and researchers in global health participate in the research. Ethnologists, technologists and health economists are also linked to the research group. We participate in education on both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels and conduct postgraduate education and commissioned education.

Research

Since 2013, research has been conducted in parental support and child-centered care, in the 6-year research program LUC3 (Lund University Child Centered Care), funded by Forte and the Swedish Research Council. In the fall of 2018, the research group received another 6-year program support from Forte, for research on e-health in child care, in the new research program eChildHealth. The research group also conducts disability research, research on overweight and obesity among preschool children, a research project on gender and conflict and research on children with cancer. One of the projects in our childhood cancer research is iCOPE (Interregional Childhood Oncology Precision Medicine Exploration), with the goal of improving diagnostics, treatment and quality of life for children with cancer.
