We carry out research within the cardiometabolic, cardiovascular, and gastro-intestinal research areas including a number of independent researchers and PhD students. The cardiometabolic research is led by Professor Peter M Nilsson and focused on studies dedicated to early vascular ageing (EVA) and its associations with insulin resistance, metabolic abnormalities and type 2 diabetes. Included are classical epidemiological and genetic aspects. In the ongoing: ”Malmö Offspring Study” (MOS) these associations are further being studied. Our research within the cardiovascular field is focused on the importance of inflammatory and metabolic factors for the development of peripheral arterial disease and abdominal aortic aneurysm, and is conducted by Professor Anders Gottsäter. Gastro-intestinal research is led by Professor Bodil Ohlsson with a focus on how diet and disease interact for different symptoms and manifestations of disease from the gastro-intestinal tract. New biomarkers are studied. In other projects it
