Description

Parkinson: On course against Cure. Our research group focuses on Parkinson's disease (PD), the second most common neurodegenerative disease, with approximately 20 000 patients in Sweden and 2.3 million in Europe.

Research

These are our main projects: Work and PD: How does PD affect the patient’s ability to work and how can patients who want to stay in work life be enabled? Care of Late Stage Parkinson's Disease, CLASP: Together with six other European centers, we investigate how best to take care of PD patients in the most advanced disease stages. Monitoring of PD: By quantitative and objective mapping of patient symptoms, the basis for adequate therapy is laid. Pump-based PD therapies: The most effective pharmacological therapies are provided with portable pumps. We are working on the continued improvement of these treatment methods. Non-motor symptoms: A long forgotten aspect of PD - we map the occurrence of non-motor symptoms and work with improved methods of treating them. Swedish Parkinson Registry, ParkREG: We work in national cooperation with developing ParkREG and using this resource for studies in PD.
