Sound Environment Center
Organisational unit: Research centre / Specialised centre
The Sound Environment Center is an interdisciplinary center to initiate, coordinate and stimulate research on sound environment and its effects on human being and society. Apart from interdisciplinary research within the framework of the center, young and new research is stimulated through support for studies abroad and for applications to established financers. The center produces interdisciplinary symposiums, printed reports, a website http://www.ljudcentrum.lu.se and newsletter. It aims to raise awareness of sound environment, both of noise exposure and as source for recreation, quality of life and communication. Through cutting edge research the center wants to create tools for the management of sound environments, be it infrastructures for traffic and city planning, health issues or effects on listening and learning. Among projects might be mentioned the AFA financed collaborations with DTU Speakers Comfort and Damage and healing processes for voice health and the current Quiet Areas.
