Strength is a physical quality included in most exercise programs for both healthy people and individuals with different disabilities. Strength can be defined as "the ability of a muscle or muscle group to exert force”.

In sports and rehabilitation, it is important to measure muscle strength to be able to evaluate the effects of training. The measurement results are often input values for the individual's current physical status, and can then be compared with the results obtained after a training period. It is vital that the measurements are valid and reliable, and sensitive enough to detect small changes in strength.

The overall aim of my research is to study the structure, function and adaptability of the human skeletal muscle, and to develop methods to measure muscle strength. At present, my research focuses on developing tests to examine strength, power and fatigue in the lower extremities for children, older individuals, elite athletes and patients with various disorders.
