Research

My research is in the area of Economic Demography where I specialize in migration. I am interested in the individual level effects of naturalization (change of citizenship status) for immigrants. I have also studied both income -and intergenerational effects of intermarriage. Another research interest of mine is immigrant’s educational attainment and policy in the area of immigrant education.

My future research is in the area of family demography where I intend to study consequences of divorce for adults and children.

Teaching

I am teaching at the Department of Economic History and the School of Social works. In Economic History I am mainly teaching in the master program of economic demography but I have taught all levels and various areas within the field. I social works I am involved in the teaching of the bachelor program, semester six, where I mainly teach research methods and research design. I am also both an examiner and a supervisor in the thesis course.

I have used a new pedagogical approach in my teaching of statistical methods. I use better examples and data closer to the field of study (in this case social work).  I also continuously update my lectures and the literature for it to be in accordance with the latest research.

Outreach

I have written a report for the Delegation for Migration Studies (DELMI) presented for the Swedish government and in Swedish media. Results from my thesis was also presented for the Danish ministry of labor and Copenhagen Municipality.
