I graduated as a nurse 1973 and then was specialized in intensive care in 1975.   I have since worked several years in intensive care units for adults.  After these years I continued with my clinical work in neonatal intensive care and at present in pediatric intensive care.

Besides my clinical skills I have a degree in teaching and have been teaching since 1980 at ungraduated, graduated and postgraduate levels. I have also been a supervisor for a Ph.D. student with a project on myocardial infarction in young people and related social support. I teach, supervise and examine both at bachelor’s level and master’s level at the Department of Health Sciences, Lund University.

In my thesis I investigated how to describe and explore women's experience of suffering a myocardial infarction (MI) and in follow-up studies after five years. My main conclusion was that even five years after the MI those women still needed support from health care professionals.

One of my other research areas is also focused on parent’s experience of their child’s admission to a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and the effect on the family two years after their child´s admittance to a PICU.
