Research

Ann-Sofi Jönsson is Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Lund University. She is supervisor of the membrane technology research group at the department, and head of the Membrane Process Research Centre, Membranportalen, at Lund University. She has worked on a wide variety of both fundamental and applied research projects. The fundamental research has been performed in two main areas: 1) influence of operating parameters on membrane performance and 2) fouling phenomena in membrane processes. She has had the opportunity to co-operate with a wide variety of industries and membrane manufacturers in different joint projects as, for example, treatment of oily waste water, landfill leachate, car-wash effluents, flue gas scrubber condensate, membrane distillation, separation of cells from fermentation broth and development of methods of cleaning membranes. Most of the projects she has been involved in have been associated with process streams in pulp and paper mills. In recent years, her work has been focused on applications in biorefineries.
