I’m a doctoral student in Economic History, researching retirement before the welfare state, as part of the research project Golden years: Understanding the retirement business in pre-modern Europe, c.1250-c.1800. My primary interests are centered around the long-run changes in market and state institutions underpinning material improvements of living standards in Western Europe. However, the disparities in living standards are also a primary concern of mine - a link also under exploration in my research on retirement. I have previously written several reports on economic policy and conducted primary research on economic inequality.
