My employment means teaching mainly in the public health nursing program and research. After many years’ of working as a public health nurse I defended my doctor’s thesis in 2006 at the Sahlgrenska Academy at Göteborg university. My thesis was about how counselling about changing lifestyle is performed at nurse-led hypertension clinics in primary care. My interest for health promotion directed on lifestyle changes persists, which is the reason for being a member of the research group Health promotion care.
Focus for my research is evaluation of how Motivational Interviewing is performed in practice and factors influencing lifestyle changes. In the research group I am the leader of a research project (the PEQ-study), which concerns what factors direct adherence to hypertension treatment. The aim is to develop an intervention which is to be evaluated in real practice. I am also cooperating with Helena Rosén’s TONIST-study, which means an evaluation of an extended telephone counselling for children who have had their tonsils operated at day-surgery. Moreover I collaborate with dr Tebogo Mothiba from University of Limpopo, South Africa, in a project evaluating a training programme for nurses in hypertension care in the primary care of Limpopo Province.
