Research

Gerd is professor in Ergonomics/Human Factors at the Department of Design Sciences at the Engineering Faculty, Lund University in southern Sweden and is responsible for the division of Ergonomics and Aerosol Technology with about 50 employeesHer main research areas are interaction design and visualization (Virtual Reality). Her current research projects are focused on the care sector also including care for elderly. She is responsible for one ongoing project about the design of the equipment used in home care situation and for another project dealing with eHealth solutions and their influence on the working environment of the home health care personnel.  In a third research project the research team is trying to find the reason for the early retirement of home care staff and what must be changed so they will be able to continue to work few more years. Gerd is also involved in several projects about the human stress system. In one recently started EU-project (BlueHealth) Virtual Reality models of green and blue natural environment will be used in homes for elderly.
