- peacebuilding, peace and conflict studies, feminist theory, post-structuralism, urban theory, critical geography

- post-war cities (Belfast, Beirut, Jerusalem, Kirkuk, Mitrovica, Mostar, Nicosia, Sarajevo, etc.)

- power, space, order, agency

- subject formation

- urban planning, development and governance

- nationalism and the nation-state

- ethnicity and ethnonational conflicts

- the Western Balkans (including Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia)
